The reason why Kenny’s here in Singapore for training and not in Hongkong or Taiwan: “HK and Taiwan no doubt they have many great teachers, but sometimes it is not just important to have good teachers, it is also important that the environment suits oneself, in addition, I’d like to go overseas to learn new things”.
“Before splitting, we always attend interviews together (with Steven). But now there’s a lot more things to handle, pressure will be greater, because I’ve grown to be independent.”
During the interview, Kenny said excitedly, “Another reason is that, Stefanie Sun and Lee Wei Song are my idols! I’m very fortunate, because the company worked with Lee Wei Song, after which I was sent for training in Singapore.”
Kenny spends 6 days in a week at the Lee Wei Song Music School (LWSMS), about an average of 10 hours everyday, during the remaining free time he goes exercising at the gym. “The teachers are very patient, they don’t throw tempers, the environment is also very conducive, I’m very glad to come here to learn!”
Although Kenny has only been here for a week, he thinks that he has already improved his singing skills. “I was at KBox singing karaoke a few days ago, I sound different, I don’t even dare to listen to my previous albums!” He laughed. Lee Wei Song by his side spoke up for Kenny, “I have heard your previous albums, actually you sound ok, you just have too high expectations for yourself.”
When Kenny returns to Hongkong, he’ll be busy preparing his first individual album. He hopes that Lee Wei Song can write songs for him, while the latter confirms that the two of them will have a great chance of working together. Lee Wei Song stated, he would most probably help to write songs, as for what genre of songs, it will depend on what kind of songs that suits Kenny, to understand his character better. “We have 4 teachers teaching Kenny now, to help discover his potentials.”
Lee Wei Song specially created a course to suit Kenny, hence the timetable becomes very hectic, summarizing the 6-month course to fit his 3-week stay.
As for Kenny’s current performance, Lee Wei Song appears to be very satisfied. “Kenny can learn things quite fast, we can tell that he has done his homework everyday, as long as he continues to work hard, he’ll definitely be popular in the near future to come.”
Besides his singing career, Kenny has also tried filming movies, but this time round, his role is the Pigsy! “I acted in movies such as ‘6a.m.’and ‘Journey to the West’, of which I am the Pigsy in ‘Journey to the West’. This movie should be showing at the end of the year.”
Even though Kenny has experience in acting, he’s persistent to concentrate on his singing career. “I still like singing better, because I can have interaction with the public, where the most direct response comes from such.”
